Within the College, the Flow Cytometry Core Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a Research Support Specialist to manage a wide variety of cytometry services for investigators at Cornell University as well as external investigators. This laboratory currently has access to a hi-speed FACSAria cell sorter and an LSR II analyzer and provides assistance in establishing or converting assays to flow cytometry, as well as aids in the analysis and interpretation of data.
This position will operate a fluorescence activated cell sorter for a range of applications to serve many investigators across the University and be responsible for: maintenance and troubleshooting of the instrument and for writing and adapting protocols for the instrument’s use, and will also be responsible for records management and for user accounts; acting as a liaison to the Cornell community, interfacing with a variety of users, advising users on staining, analyzing user samples by flow cytometry, and advising users on data analysis.

- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with 3-5 year of experience with advanced florescence activated cell sorter and/or high level of experience with flow cytometry and relevant mammalian cell biology or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Must possess high level of independent reasoning and analytical thought with a customer service orientation.
- Strong ability to conduct research and to troubleshoot experiments/problems.
